Hypnotherapy and tDCS for Depression and Anxiety

Flow tDCS for depression and anxiety with R Clifford Cognitive Hypnotherapy

Being a registered Flow Neuroscience therapist, means I am able to offer tDCS for depression, anxiety and neuro-biological conditions. This is an exciting development, as tDCS is fast becoming an alternative to medication for mood disorders and related illnesses. I am proud to be at the forefront of supporting this movement and providing Flow tDCS to my clients.

What is tDCS and How Can it Help for Depression?

Trans-cranial Direct Current Stimulation (or tDCS), is a wearable device that emits a mild electrical current through areas of the brain. This stimulates activity in the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for mood regulation.

tDCS studies over the past 20+ years, have shown that people who suffer with depression or other illnesses that affect their mood, have low levels of activity in these areas of the brain. By directing a mild electrical current into these areas on a regular basis, research has shown vast improvements in mood. Flow tDCS and other research studies, have also shown significant improvement in anxiety and other neuro-biological disorders.

Who are Flow Neuroscience tDCS?

Flow Neuroscience, was co-founded by Clinical Psychologist Daniel Mansson, and Neuroscientist, Erik Rehn. With a shared vision to make tDCS more accessible, they created a device that anyone can buy and self-administer safely. They are also working with the NHS, with pilot trials being conducted in Northamptonshire with the aim to roll this out across the UK.

You can find out more about Flow Neuroscience tDCS on their website.

The results of using tDCS for depression and anxiety so far have been extremely promising. According to data, 88% of users show improvements in their depression score within the first 3 weeks. In addition to this, 66% reported significant reduction in anxiety symptoms, and 57% of users being depression free after 10 weeks.

Other studies have also shown promising benefits to many other issues including:

  • Neuropathic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraines
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Alzheimers
  • Alcohol addiction

Please note: if you have an existing medical condition you may need to discuss your suitability with a GP. Other contraindications may also apply.

How I Provide tDCS for Depression and Anxiety

As a registered therapist with Flow Neuroscience, I can offer tDCS for depression, anxiety and other issues at a reduced rate. I offer a few different options for this:

  1. Incorporated Cognitive Hypnotherapy and tDCS therapeutic packages from £660
  2. Add a tDCS add on with any Cognitive Hypnotherapy or Coaching package for an extra £250
  3. Buy a tDCS headset as a stand alone option for £300

With any of these options, you will receive your own Flow tDCS headset to use at home in your own time. You will get all of the benefits of the Flow Neuroscience software and self-monitoring system and you can choose to receive extra monitoring and support from me as your therapist.

You will be given a set programme following Flow’s guidelines, and we will monitor your response and progress as you go. If you decide to choose tDCS as part of a package or add on, I will be there to support you with any issues and changes to the programme if required.

What This Looks Like:

  • If you’re a new client, book a free consultation to discuss if tDCS is right for you. Existing clients can email me or discuss in session
  • When you choose to add tDCS to any treatment plan, you will be setup with an account through my online Flow clinic
  • You’ll receive your headset within 3 days, sent to an address of your choice
  • Download the Flow Neuroscience app and you can begin using your headset straight away
  • If you decide Flow tDCS is not for you, you can return it for up to 30 days for a refund on the device (any other treatments or therapy time used during that time are not refundable)
