Hypnosis is a natural trance like state of deep focus or attention. We go in and out of throughout the day as your mind accesses and stores information in your subconscious mind. It is an altered state that your mind can enter when relaxing or processing information.
Hypnotherapy helps to access this state in a way that allows you to process experiences and emotions in a more helpful way. With proper guidance, it can be used to help your subconscious find creative solutions to emotional problems that may be keeping you stuck.
Traditional Hypnotherapy uses depth of trance and focusses on feeding suggestions to the subconscious to change how you think and feel about situations.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses light, every day type trance, keeping you engaged in the process of making the change to how you think and feel. This means we don’t rely on your ability to go into a deep trance, which varies person to person. Plus, you get to experience the changes you make in real time, knowing that you are in control rather than passively receiving.
Yes, Hypnotherapy is a very effective and well researched form of therapy that can treat a lot of different issues.
Some forms of hypnosis depend on a person’s ability to go into a deep trance, and their willingness to be hypnotised.
There have been lots of advancements since the early days of traditional Hypnotherapy. There are several different poaches to hypnosis which work in different ways.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy combines modern approaches such as NLP (neurolinguistic programming) with traditional hypnotherapy. This means we have access to many tools and techniques which can be adapted to suit more people’s model of the world. Cognitive Hypnotherapy also doesn’t rely on your ability to go into deep trance, making it more flexible and effective.
Hypnotherapy is considered a safe and effective form of treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced therapist.
Most people can benefit from Hypnotherapy and experience positive results.
You will always be in control and aware of what you are saying, hearing and thinking in a session.
Hypnotherapy should not be used by anyone with some mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, epilepsy and some personality disorders.
Yes, Hypnotherapy works exactly the same online as in person. In fact, many of my clients feel more comfortable having treatment in the comfort of their own home.
Working online means that you can access treatment from anywhere in the world, and you don’t have to travel to get to your session.
Inner Child Therapy is a way of connecting with younger “parts” of yourself that may still be carrying the scars of painful childhood experiences.
We use exercises such as guided visualisation and emotion reprocessing techniques to resolve emotional blockages and limiting beliefs. This also develops reparenting skills that help heal emotional wounds and support nervous system regulation.
Inner Child Therapy and Hypnotherapy work well together, because they both work with the subconscious mind and nervous system. Both Inner Child work and Hypnosis use internal representations that can help access and change deep emotional states and core beliefs.
This can be done through guided visualisation, using the felt sense, accessing memories or imagined scenes etc.
It is very common to have little or vague memories of childhood and it isn’t always a sign of repressed memories.
The good thing about Inner Child Therapy, is that you don’t need to have exact memories, or any memory at all, of the emotional injuries at the root of the problem. We focus on the way the child parts of you are showing up now and meeting their internal needs, without needing all the details of the original events.
No, Inner Child Therapy can help with a wide range of emotional issues that go back to childhood experiences, not just trauma.
Strong emotional experiences can leave lasting imprints on your psyche and nervous system in childhood. These early experiences shape your views of yourself, relationships and the world in later life.
Inner Child Therapy can help resolve limiting beliefs and emotional blockages stemming from any kind of hurtful experiences from childhood.
Problems I Help People with:
People often come to me when they’re tired of feeling broken and as if there is something wrong with them. Many of my clients say that they’ve tired other forms of therapy but still feel stuck and unable to change old patterns.
You might be wondering why you can’t make relationships work, or feeling like you’re a failure in life. Maybe your self-esteem is so low that you feel like no one likes you. Or that you have to try and be something you’re not in order to be liked.
I know how exhausting it can be to push your needs down to try and fit in, or keep getting hurt because you are too scared of being rejected if you have boundaries.
Inner Child Therapy helped me to overcome my low self-worth issues and I have now helped hundreds of people do the same. Book in a free call if you’d like to discuss how I can help you.
This can be different for everyone and it depends on your goals and where you are starting in your journey.
Hypnotherapy and Inner Child Therapy are usually considered brief forms of therapy, with many people reaching their goals in a few sessions.
However, for some people with deep trauma or longterm issues such as addiction, it can be a longer journey.
